Meeting and departure for Volterra, a gem overlooking the “Val di Cecina” and whose gaze extends to the sea. Volterra, the cradle of Etruscan, Roman, Medieval and Renaissance civilization and culture, for a “journey” into the story covering a period of about three thousand years, of which today we have many artistic and monumental evidences.
The best way to appreciate Volterra is to walk through its streets enjoying the beautiful Piazza dei Priori, the Town Hall, the Cathedral, the entrance gates of the walls dating from the thirteenth century,, the churches, and the evocative ruins of the Roman Theater, up to the beautiful park dominated by the Medici’s fortress with its “Rocca del Mastio”. On the way back you could visit handicraft and alabaster shops and go over the “Balze” created by the erosion of wind and water.
After the visit to Volterra, on the way back, we will stop to visit a selected winery for a guided tour and for wine tasting with light lunch. This experience will take place within very refined locations so to admire and enjoy the landscapes and the peacefulness of the Tuscan countryside.
Return late in the afternoon.
